Ingredient #4 for Online Marketing Success = Develop a Strong Plan of Action
Just like you wouldn’t go into the next ‘big’ game without a plan of attack, you can’t plan your future success without a strong plan of action. In order to create a successful business, you need to make a plan.
Often times for solo-preneurs this plan involves trying every type of marketing and service available. You may be spending loads of time, energy and money on the next shiny object that comes your way. However, without having a strategy in place, how do you know what type of product, service, or marketing will even help you build the business you desire?
What you need to create your plan of action:
1. Know who you are targeting. This is the absolute first step before you can make and implement a plan. Understand your target market inside and out. What are they unhappy about? What do they dream about? What makes them tick?
2. Learn where these ideal clients hang out. Are they online? Are they offline in a group? What do they like to do in their free time? What do they like to read? Know where they spend time and money.
3. Understand how you serve them. Take the time to determine what you provide that your clients need. Don’t think of this in terms of features, like “helping with overall wellness”. Rather, think in terms of benefits. You can do this by answering the question,”so what?” You may help with overall wellness, but so what? What does that actually do for your clients? How does this make their life better?
4. Tap into your strengths. Take some time to determine your strengths and weaknesses. What are you good at or comes naturally for you? Where do you struggle or what areas do you shy away from? In order to understand where you need help in your business, you need to have a strong sense of you.
Making a plan of action starts with understanding your market and YOU. Know who you want to work with, where they hang out, and how you can help them. Focus on your strengths and find learning opportunities that will help you with your weaknesses.
