The All Too Fragile Balancing Act

Does it really exist? Balance – is it for real?

I want you to try something right now.

Stand up. Now balance on one foot. What happens?

For many standing on one foot for any length of time is difficult. You may be wobbling or you may drop your foot.

However, sometimes, you may find that you are in the zone and nothing is going to knock you off your foot – until something does!

The point is, balance is not constant.

It is not consistent. What looks like balance one day, the next day can feel like utter confusion.

As businesses owners, the busier you become, the more difficult it feels to find that balance.

So how do you know if you are feeling out of balance?

The thing is, most of us probably don't sit around each day and think, "Am I feeling in balance today?" Not to say that we shouldn't do daily self check ins, but realistically you probably don't.

How to know if you are out of balance

~ Short fuse. A key sign that you are trying to accomplish too much is that your fuse is short! Anything and everything can set you off and get you irritated.

~ Unfocused. Often when you are out of balance, you are feeling like you are unfocused and not getting anything accomplished. You may have more on your plate than ever, but nothing feels like it is getting done.

~ Unmotivated. Similar to feeling unfocused, if you are feeling unmotivated you may need a little balance back into your life. Feeling unmotivated and not wanting to get anything off of your list can be a symptom of overwhelm.

So what do you do to find more balance?

You are a business owner, and need to run your business, right? You are most likely also a mom, a dad, a boyfriend, a girlfriend – the list can go on and on.

The thing about balance, is no one is going to find it for you. If you notice that things just aren't feeling right, then you need to make the changes.

To find more balance starts with you. Sometimes it is making difficult decisions on letting commitments or obligations go for awhile. This means reevaluating your priorities and getting in touch with where you want to focus your energy.

Other times it requires outsourcing or hiring someone to help you. You don't need to do it all by yourself. Find someone to do your bookkeeping, your writing, or even your selling.

The point is, your business will not be the success you envision without you!

When you are unfocused and feeling out of sorts, it doesn't do anyone any good.

You are the key ingredient in turning your business into its full potential. In order for that to happen, you need to show up fully and remain focused.

Take the time to clear your plate of what you don't need to do, so you can focus on what is important.
