What a Difference a Year Makes

It is only a year, but it can feel like an eternity!

When I look at where I was a year ago, my life is hardly recognizable.

So much has happened, good and difficult, but I would not change a thing.

Sometimes it is the tough times that makes us stronger!

A year ago, I was writing $5 articles, to help put food on our table. At first it was article writing for survival, but eventually turned into something more.

Let me back up even a little further…

Two years ago, I was part of a downsizing in the pharmaceutical industry. I was in the industry for over 8 years and enjoyed the benefits – including a decent salary and company car.

However, I was ready for the layoff. I was tired of the industry and ready to take on the challenge of my own business.

I had big dreams.

When those dreams didn't happen I began to panic. I started signing up and buying any shining object that appeared and promised to help me grow my business.

The thing is, those tools were great, but I didn't believe I could do it.

Fast forward to a year ago – things were tough, really tough! I had no idea how I was going to make my business a success and I was scared. I found an ad for $5 articles and started writing within a couple of days.

The articles didn't pay much, but I am eternally grateful for that opportunity.

It was through that cheap labor that I began believing in myself again and learning the value of my skills. Without that period in time, it is hard to say where I'd be right now.

Now, I'm charging what I am worth. I've created success and know there is more to come!

What I learned is that it starts with me!

Whatever I want to create or where I want to go, if I don't believe that it can happen, it won't.

There is no reason to waste money on shiny objects or the next best thing, until I know I can succeed!

A year ago I was wondering how I would ever create a successful business, and now I can't wait to see what's next!
