Writing Better Newsletters That Gets You Results
Welcome 2012 – A new year, new goals, the year you are going to take your business to the level you envision, right?
If you are like many business owners, you may have the goal of sending out your newsletter on a regular basis. Yes, this may be a goal that follows you year after year, but never seems to be accomplished. So why don’t you follow through with your newsletter writing? Time? Motivation? ROI?
Regardless of the reason, chances are if your newsletter is not providing you the results you desire, you will not have the motivation to write it, find the time, or have any return on investment.
#1 Reason Why Your Newsletter Writing Doesn’t Bring Results
If you are unhappy with your newsletter results, you may need to take a step back and look at exactly what you are writing. Are you talking about what you want to talk about OR are you talking about what your customers want you to talk about?
As a business owner, you most likely love to talk about your business and what you have to offer; however, this may be turning your customers off, or at least not engaging them. You might as well not even write a newsletter, if you want to write about what you want.
If you are interested in providing engaging content that gets your customers excited to interact with you and build a long lasting relationship, start writing about what they want to hear.
This means you need to know who your customer are and what motivates them. Answer these questions so you can start writing better newsletters:
- Who are your customers?
- What motivates them to buy?
- What valuable information can you provide them?
- How can you help your customers?
When you change your perspective from a what’s in it for me attitude, to a what’s in it for them attitude, you will see your interactions change with your customers. Listen to what they have to say and provide them the information they are craving and you will see the results you want for 2012!
